‘HIGH DEGREE AT NUST’ of STIs with 10 % of patients treated at the university clinic for STIs and 10% seeking tuberculosis treatment.

It is reported that the Bulawayo university, (NUST) has at least 9000 students but out of that number, at least 10%of students and staff members who at the National University of Science and Technology’s (Nust) Clinic in 2016 needed treatment for sexually-transmitted infections.

According to the NUST Vice-Chancellor report , a total of 10 % of clinic patients were treated for STIs while another 10% needed tuberculosis treatment and 21 percent faced respiratory challenges needing treatment.

Other issues attended to by the NUST clinic included cases of , mental illnesses, malaria, dog bites and diarrhoea and 812 students needed help through counselling services for psychological, physiological and health matters issues which included 152 psychological-social issues such as Depression, and suicidal tendencies , 121 pre and post HIV tests counselling and 87 over fees while desperate students pleaded for financial assistance through the university’s chaplain .
With the southern African region having a high level of HIV and AIDS and Zimbabwe over the last twenty years having had one of the highest and at one time the highest level of HIV infections in the world, this is simple stupidity by supposedly educated people who should know that HIV testing is free, HIV protection is simple, abstain from sex without protection, use protection like condoms widely and freely distributed. No wonder some people will say that (NUST) means National Unprotected Sex Territory .
I can only say , with this level of alarming health statistics, the NUST university an institution of higher learning is certainly churning out ‘HIGH DEGREES’ ,,erm of STIs or sexually-transmitted infections.

I suggest as always, it does not matter how important , big or powerful a person or institution is, INFORMATION IS POWER! USE it and spread the news far and wide, let people know, stimulate debate, expose all and force change. The issue of HIV and AIDS may seem like a Bulawayo NUST issue,…wrong, its actually a clear indication of how broken our society is under the Mugabe, Zim1 family, Zanu pf stalwarts and securocrats who monopolise wealth and power, even spreading the disease through their corruptly gained wealth,

They loot national wealth from the motherland Zimbabwe and spread disease, then fly out for world class medical care , which you can’t afford to do,
The same criminals fail to build clinics, hospitals and other medical institutions for you. They will not invest in new equipment or repair damaged ones, medical property, or buy drugs for the sick.

What we see from NUST is just a sample from all institutions of HIGHER LEARNING IN ZIMBABWE.
NEWS FLASH, the STIS will not be limited to them, as they will be sleeping with your colleagues, family, children, friends and relatives and rape infants.

I say infants because we all know that there is a false belief by many foolish Zimbabweans that if they sleep with fresh blood or rather infants and virgins, they will be rejuvinated and cleared of AIDS and this is a society with one of the highest levels of education in Africa….really?

It is clear that we need serious education on sexual health in school from as low as primary school through Education for living. The same must be done openly at home and in community groups in order to eradicate this disease from society. It all comes down to accepting that the disease is a reality, and every Zimbabwean has been affected or infected in one way or the other since it appeared in Zimbabwe around 1989. Sex and disease should be freely discussedat home between children and parents to help them understand and deal with challenges they will face in life.

We cannot be held back by old school norms and traditions. Education is key to a successful anti HIV drive.

FACT-this is why we have so many underage girls in some mining towns in Zimbabwe as young as 12 or less of primary school age who earn a living from short time sex with truck drivers , drunkards and other strangers for as little as 50p. Some of these children were dumped, or are orphans due to AIDS and clearly living the same cycle. Where does the truck driver ,drunkard or other client go after that,..back to his innocent wife who does not know of his norcturnal taste for unprotected sex with strangers,..children! Its not rocket science as to the life that the girl child in Zimbabwe faces and how evil our society has become.

Evil because of the scary behaviour of child sex, unprotected sex with strangers, and also the heartless aim to infect as many as possible people because one feels I’m not going to die alone.

What is happening at NUST is a simple second time bomb waiting to explode in Zimbabwe as an HIV , AIDS epidemic will ensue from this careless and total disregard for health and life. It will come back to haunt the nation as its only a cycle of sharing disease,. three seconds of joy and a life time of HIV AIDS,..simple!

Ordinary Zimbabweans need to be empowerered with health information about where to receive, STI treatment, how to avoid STIs, where to get counselling on STIs but most importantly, you are responsible for your own sexual health.

There should be no negotiation between couples no matter how much you love each other or look normal,..TEST, test and test again. Trust each other yes but when you spend time away from each other through travels as we do in life, be it your job or pleasure, if alone, avoid sex, when back together, test,…it can only elongate your life.

Lets not be a community that is shy of accepting reality, and facing the truth head on. More news to follow. We need a competent government that enacts laws there to protect the public.

However apart from laws and policing, it is important to realise that enacting a law in Parliament is just the start, however there must be effecting policing in order to prosecute those found on the wrong side of the law to protect the public. Spreading HIV is simply sentencing someone else to death and the charge should be an imprisonable ‘murder charge’

Child sexual abuse should face tougher laws and prosecution and lengthy jail terms. The girl child must be protected, empowered and uplifted in our society.
We recently saw how Grace Mugabe used Diplomatic Immunity to across our borders in neighbouring South Africa to escape prosecution over attempting to ‘murder’ Gabriella Engels (20) a South African girl with an electric cable while her armed security men stood by ready to step in if Gabriella Engels fought back.

First Lady Grace Mugabe the wife of Zimbabwe’s president Robert Mugabe, calls herself the mother of the nation, and a champion for girl child issues and fight against Violence against women. INFORMATION IS POWER. I can tell you that Grace Mugabe in assaulting Gabriella Engels, proved beyond doubt that she is not fit to protect women from violence, not defend girl child issues, not fit to run an orphanage and has no Respect of the Rule of Law and International Borders because of her Diplomatic Immunity.

My point is that, what transpired clearly shows that we are the architects of our own down fall. Mugabe did not put himself into power. We the people of Zimbabwe put him there and now look what happened. Remember in 2008 we had a cholera epidemic that killed close to 5000 Zimbabweans.

Cholera is mainly spread by drinking faeces contaminated water and fluids, Zimbabwe is faced with poor Service Delivery in water, health care, housing, employment, electricity and other issues.

In the last 18 years we had Cholera, Aids, continuous, limited electricity, thousands of labourers sent of farms, losing employment, housing and health care as white farmers were forcibly removed , children torn away from schools, schools left without thousands of teachers as teachers left for the diaspora.

It is not rocket science that poor Service Delivery in water, health care, housing, employment, electricity and other issues stems from a corrupt illegitimate Mugabe’s Zanu pf, Zim1 family, Zanu pf stalwarts and securocrats regime that we continuously allow to rule us further at every general election. We are therefore the architects of our own destiny. We the people have the power to change the course of history starting with choosing the right candidates to lead us and parties to run government and above all to remove Mugabe and his Zanu pf from power.
